About your instructor

Daniel Semrad II got his first opportunity to dive when he finished his Masters Degree for Teaching.  Initially it was scuba diving, which lead to becoming a scuba instructor and eventually a scuba instructor trainer, but spearfishing lead him to freediving.  Initially, Dan didn't think he would ever leave his tanks behind, but he absolutely fell in love with all aspects of freediving and has now been involved in every level of the sport.  He left the school classroom for three years in order to be the Freedive Training Coordinator in charge of the freediving program for NAUI during the collaboration between PFI and NAUI, but he missed teaching and continues to do that now.  His training has allowed him to travel the world training divers of all levels and help shops better serve their freediving communities.  He has written many articles for various publications, been in various magazines, on podcasts, in a book, and on a TV show.  Dan has had the opportunity to safety Continental and National Records, been asked to lead safety for numerous competitions, and has safetied private record attempts.  Competing for himself is rare, but Dan has entered two pool competitions resulting in 4 national records himself. Dan has coached athletes of all levels for freedive applications from depth records, to special forces, to performing arts and spearos.  On the spearfishing side, he has international experience from tropical waters to cold Alaska including competitions and world record missions.
